New games 2021: Great Plains
There is definitely something going on in the Great Plains
New 2 player game from the designers of Mandala
Lookout Games is known for successful board game classic like Agricola (2007) by the author Uwe Rosenberg and Isle of Skye (Kennerspiel des Jahres 2016) by Alexander Pfister. In addition to expert games, the publisher also offers simpler family games every year and has developed expertise in the field of 2-person games with titles such as Patchwork, Mandala and Glasgow.
This range will also be expanded in 2021 with a new release: With Great Plains, we take you on a mysterious game about life in the lowlands. Impressive cave paintings tell of the life of our ancestors, of their cosmos and all the animals that surrounded them.
The game transfers us to the Great Plains, where two tribes are on a quest for supremacy. The rival parties are symbolized by clever foxes and wise snakes. With the spiritual assistance of totem animals, they overcome mountains, traverse valleys and sneak into the territory of their rivals. The winner is the player who, through clever tactics, can claim the most land for his tribe in the end.
Great Plains is a history lesson, it makes the conflict between the ancient tribes a playful experience. It is an abstract puzzle game for 2 people, designed for 20 minutes play time. In Germany, the game will be available from selected retailers by July. International availability will follow shortly after.
The authors: Many board game fans know the duo Brett Gilbert and Trevor Benjamin as the designers of Mandala and other popular titles. Trevor and Brett live in the same neighborhood in England and often play and create together. Expect more to come from this creative duo!

Grand Austria Hotel: Let's Waltz - First view outside of Kickstarter
A little peak at our Kickstarter campaign
Do you remember our Grand Austria Hotel: Let's Waltz Kickstarter campaign from last year? Until today, we have posted updates only to our backers via Kickstarter, but as all products have left the factory now, we are eager to show the finished game (or, at least, part of it) to everyone.
Any news on the delivery of the products to your doorstep? Well, things are looking good at the moment, and the delivery should still work out as scheduled. The goods for the European backers have hit the warehouse in France and are soon to be fulfilled. The goods for every other backer are destined to arrive in the US these days, and are then going to the fulfillment center in Florida.
Your Lookout Games team
Important note for backers:
There are still backers who pledged in Kickstarter but missed to complete the PledgeManager, so they have not settled shipping costs yet and have not verified their shipping address.
Are you one of these backers? Then please contact us immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will try to find a solution for you after the regular fulfillment (settling shipping costs, verifying your address, etc.).
Please DON'T contact us if you haven't backed the Kickstarter campaign and hope to snatch one of these copies! These backers placed an order with us by backing the campaign and we will first try everything in our power to fulfill their order. If backers cancel their order or don't answer for too long that we will have to cancel the order ourselves, we will make these copies available through our online shop.
Cantaloop Book 1: Breaking into prison rocks! Ricarda plays purple, Sabine plays red.
Your feedback for Cantaloop Book1: Breaking into prison blew our socks off!
We really love to put the utmost joy into our games - for all of you! Still, we are so happy with all the positive feedback, posts and reviews on our first analog Paper Point’n Click adventure. Cantaloop Book 1: Breaking into prison by game designer Friedemann Findeisen exceeded our wildest expectations and was almost sold out within a few weeks.
If you haven’t been able to get hold of your personal copy, rest assured: We are working with high pressure on the next release! Or as Hook would put it: combine BOOK with PRINTING PRESS.
Additionally, we added new players to the Lookout team! Let them introduce themselves.
Hello, I am Ricarda.
As new project and product manager at Lookout Games, I've been happily pushing Meeples and emails around since joining the team. My home office today is in Berlin, but I grew up south in Ingolstadt.
Before joining the Asmodee family, I played and studied and studied what I played. In other words: I did my Master Degree in Game Studies and Engineering at the Alpen-Adria University. I've been supporting Sören in project management since March, so I'm deep in the middle of the Lookout range, under all those cards, boxes, emails and - sheep!
How would other players describe you?
I think they would first notice my euphoria at the beginning of each game night. Speaking of pure happiness: I play purple.
Hello, I am Sabine.
Lookout is publishing great games, as marketing manager I will take care the games find their way to you even more quickly in the future. You also need someone to answer questions that are not about the rules of the game. For example: When will Le Havre finally be released again?
My expertise is in marketing & events, I launched organic brands for retail and organized eco-friendly business events in Austria. For Lookout, I can now fully exploit my know-how and will play all cards. I live in the town of the Grand Austria Hotel with my family, a large pile of board games and an even larger pile of books.
What does a successful game night look like for you?
A large table, good-humored teammates, a few nice games, crisp puzzles and - sheep. And if you ask: I play red.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
Translation: Merry Christmas - 2021 will certainly be better!
* And if it's not going to be better on its own, we will make it better ourselves!
Lookout wishes a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
However, before we will vanish completely, we have a little gift for you: The prequel print & play for Cantaloop - Book 1: Breaking into prison is now available. If you don't know what to play between Christmas and New Years, simply head over to the games download section and give it a try. We hope you will enjoy it and find yourself interested in the main game which should already be available or will become available early next year (depending on which country you are living in).
